Irish art, graffiti, street art and murals

Canvas
My urban landscapes aim to portray serenity and reflection within environments of noise and clutter. They attempt to capture the pastoral like atmospheres of active and dormant organs of the city and how nature maintains its relentless dominance over the built environment.

Graffiti
I began painting graffiti in 1993 after finding
a piece by “Sut One” in my neighbourhood.
I painted consistently for five years until slowing
down and eventually stopping in 2000.
I returned a year later but tried to keep an outsiders
perspective. This attitude made exploring style
much more enjoyable and liberating.

Painting this kind of graffiti is similar to playing
improvised music. The process is part of
the product. Graffiti’s great elements include exploring
the city and painting with others.

My letter based graffiti was influenced by everything around
me including contemporary architecture,
Georgian railings, cubism, telephone wires and
marine life.

Most of my recent spray-paint work is no longer letter based and is largely inspired by animation and diagrams.
